Another Part of the Forest - Película inspirada en la Loba (1941) de William Wyler, que presenta a los mismos protagonistas veinte años antes. En 1880, tras celebrarse el día de los confederados en Bowden, Alabama, comenzaremos a ver la difícil relación que sostienen los Hubbard, en la que el padre, Marcus (Fredrich March) atiende su negocio, lee a Aristóteles... y sostiene una relación de absoluta frialdad con su esposa Lavinia (Florence Eldridge), la cual le guarda profundo respeto, mientras preserva resentimientos que no puede sacudir de su conciencia. Sus hijos: Regina (Ann Blyth), anhela casarse con el confederado John Bagtry (John Dall) a quien su padre desestima, Oscar (Dan Duryea), ansía organizarse con una bailarina de can-can que sólo él ve con buenos ojos. Y Benjamin, ansía surgir socialmente sin importarle los medios. Con ellos, un fuerte drama está a punto de servirse.
